We consider ourselves very lucky to able to support writing and playing our own songs - by learning and performing other people’s songs. It's the best of both worlds and just constant music-ing, which is perfect.
While we struggled loads with the decision of whether or not to keep the original music separate, we came to the conclusion that at the end of the day it’s all music, and our aim is to show you a good time no matter what music we’re playing.
Our debut single is out now, with many more to come, and our 2026 gig diary is filling up fast! See you somewhere! xx
Long time part of Manchester’s music scene in solo projects and other bands, Annelie and Edwin would only occasionally drop-in on each others’ gigs until late 2023 when they decided that performing and writing together would become a full-time project, eventually forming EDNA.
Their epic and in-demand covers shows are now well-known throughout Manchester and the North West for being full of good energy and packed with songs for singing and dancing along to. The repertoire features a huge song selection from golden oldies through to modern chart hits and are all played in their distinct style, while their vocal harmonies and on-stage rapport are unique, infectious and captivating.
Each individual voice is unique – Annelie soft and caramel, Edwin roaring and raspy - when put together it works beautifully.
Their original music suggests hints of The Civil Wars, Big Thief, The Chicks, Andy Shauf, and Phoebe Bridgers and the song-writing talks about the normal day to day of love, despair, and all the celebratory bits in between with a sharp, frank and easy open-ness to their lyrics that weave through beautiful, sometimes haunting melodies and musical phrases. Watching a live originals show has a different intensity to a covers set – the songs are coming from a more personal place and there are darker hues in the tone and sound – though there’s still space for smiles and humour.
With lots of new songs, and a couple of EPs in the pipeline, you can catch EDNA playing at venues in and around Manchester almost every night - check out the Shows tab for details!
